Want to get to know me?

An important aspect of choosing a healer to work with is being able to feel safe, comfortable and yourself when you're in their space. If you can't trust them and can't connect with them, then what's the point? So, I wanted to use this time to introduce myself and perhaps in doing so, you can get a better understanding of who I am and if you'd like to work with me.

The basics: My name is Rachael, I identify and she/her and I'm just about to turn 30. I love dogs (especially my dog Peanut) and my favourite colour depends on my mood.

Why did I get into healing?

I kind of stumbled onto it through my own journey with anorexia, alcoholism and depression, after realizing that conventional and mainstream services couldn't do shit for me and my "conditions". After years and years of struggling, I came across Reiki. In my opinion, Reiki isn't a fix everything immediately all at once, kind of thing, but it did kick start something that opened my eyes to a different way of living. I finally felt my energy shift, and the all consuming depression that I'd battled with for more than 10 years lessened a bit. I found that I could get in touch with myself a little bit more and didn't seek to numb myself quite as much. When I practiced reiki, I wanted to look after myself and my body.

Fast forward to the exploration of yoga - positive and mindful movement and meditation. I studied yoga in India and for the first time, discovered a love for the body and life I had been given. Talk about profound awakenings.

Then I discovered Shamanism and I chose to work with a few Shamans while I lived in the UK. I'll go into that a bit more in a later post but what I learnt and released through engaging with these practices was life changing.

Through these experiences and a holistic approach to healing, I had shifted my depression, moved on from my fathers death and allowed myself to really feel and be in touch with my true self.

That's when I understood, that healing comes in many forms and from many avenues and that the modern medical system doesn't take into account the need for spiritual recovery or wellbeing. I understood that medicine and GP's cannot heal or help with overcoming trauma or issues that transcend the physical (such as a broken leg or a cut). I was intrigued by this and as I began to heal and work on myself more and more, I saw how effective and amazing alternative therapies were in helping both myself and others heal from things that were harming them.

So I thought... hold up!...if I've come this far with the help of some "woo woo" practices, why can't others? I think a lot of people are searching for help because they can't find any way to get out of the shit they're in. While more and more shit keeps piling up, it seems that the only generic way to deal with it is self medication or pharmaceutical medication. But, I'm here because there is another way. Something so daring and simple as healing energetically, working on the spiritual aspects of ourselves and letting go of the trauma that we've carried in our bodies.

I'm here to tell my story and to help others who are struggling. Stay posted to hear more and if you're interested, send me a message or add me on Facebook.

Love always, Rachael :)
